lightsnake&asio

Here are the steps:

Download and install ASIO4ALL.

Plug the Lightsnake into an available USB port.

Bring up the offline ASIO4ALL utility.

Configure your audio hardware for output at a minimum.

Configure your LightSnake for input.

Quit the ASIO4ALL offline utility.

Start your Windows audio application and find the selection that allows you to choose your driver mode (ASIO) and your audio driver(ASIO4ALL).

In some cases, you may have to change the driver mode from MME or WDM to ASIO.

Establish a 44.1KHz or 48KHz sampling rate as appropriate and a bit depth of 16 bits.

Select the ASIO4ALL(usb device) driver as input; this selects the LightSnake cable as input.

Select the ASIO4ALL(your audio hardware) driver as output.

Exit (do not cancel) the mode and driver selection.

In some cases (such as with Cakewalk SONAR and other Cakewalk products), you may have to exit your audio application and re-start it in order for the driver mode and/or settings changes to take effect.

Select a track and establish the ASIO4ALL(usb device) as the input. You may have turn input echo (input monitoring) on depending on your choice of software. Make sure that the input fader for the track/channel is turned up at least half way. You should now be able to hear what you are playing through the LightSnake. Refer to the ASIO4ALL documentation and help on how to adjust latency should there either be a perceptible delay or should there be any noise such as crackles or pops. Adjust the input fader for the best signal (usually peaks of between -6db and -12 db).

To record (again, depending on your application) you may have to arm the chosen track for recording and then hit the Record control. In some cases, arming for record and input echo are the same control/function.
